Managing Employee Burnout: A Board-Level Strategic Imperative
Remote work has paradoxically increased weekly work hours by 2 hours daily while reducing meeting length by 15%, creating conditions for employee burnout. Drawing on Christina Maslach's burnout research, the article identifies six contributing factors and three that are particularly acute in the current environment: work overload, loss of control, and diminished community. Organizations should assess burnout using validated instruments and implement mitigation strategies.
