VC Investment Decision-Making: Partner Voting and Deal Approval Processes

This article examines how investment decisions are made at venture capital funds, revealing that despite formal voting processes, partner approval is often pre-determined. In most multi-partner firms, a single sponsor partner with sufficient influence can fund deals regardless of other partners' ratings, making the voting mechanism largely ceremonial.
