Database Design Philosophy: Simplicity Through Full-Text Search

This article examines how changing underlying database platform assumptions can fundamentally alter application design. Using Google Code's and MarkLogic's bug-tracking systems as case studies, it demonstrates how leveraging full-text search capabilities enables simpler, more flexible applications with minimal structured data entry and maximum loose text storage.
